Pai - pre-travel post

So, the plan is to rent a motorbike and head up to Pai, see the canyon, take a hike, and head back to Chiang Mai.

Route to Pai

Take route 1095 from Chiang Mai, round over 750 bends for about 4 hours and bingo, you've reached Pai!

So that we can stop along the way and visit a few waterfalls, we will be renting mopeds. For Thailand, International Driving Permits can be used. Find more about these here.

Pmbok Waterfall

One of the waterfalls we plan to visit is the pmbok waterfall (pictured above). Pembok Waterfall is located on the way back to town. You need to head north on the main road from the canyon trailhead for about 3.5 kilometres along the left side of the river, across a high and narrow bridge. Follow the trail that sets you off until you find the small pool under the picturesque waterfall.

Travelling Twats

Some say he’s half man half fish, others say he’s more of a seventy/thirty split. Either way he’s a fishy bastard.
