Bangkok to Koh Tao

You can get a train, you can fly, or you can take a bus and a ferry. We have decided on an overnight bus and ferry to save on 1 nights accommodation. 
The overnight combo costs £21. It leaves Bangkok at 9pm and arrives in Koh Tao at 8.45am.

Koh Tao to Khao Yai NP

Return to Bangkok (see above)

Bangkok to Khao Yai NP

The bus takes about 5 hours and is 130THB, though minibuses can be hired  for a faster (albeit pricier) journey.

The cheapest option is the train at 85THB, but it takes longer at 6 hours.

Khao Yai to Ayutthaya

A nice and simple train ride, the cheapest option. You can't go wrong at 23THB, taking 2.5 hours.

Ayutthaya to Lampang

Overnight train costs 95 THB and takes nearly 11 hours... but saves a nights accommodation!!

Lampang to Chiang Mai

Another simple train ride, 2 hours for 23THB.


Chiang Mai to Pai & back


We will be taking motorbikes, see the route on the Pai post. Motorbikes can be rented for $5 per day.



Chiang Mai to Chiang Khong


For the outward bound journey there are twos buses;
1 - Departs 8.20, arrives 14.55, 271THB
2 - Departs 13.00, arrives 17.20, 211THB

And there are two for the return journey;
1 - Departs 6.00, arrive 13.10, 211THB
2 - Departs 10.30, arrives 17.20, 272THB
